Boeing Boeing

The Sydney leg of the tour has been cancelled & the Melbourne leg ends on 5th July

Boeing Boeing, the revival of the 1960s sex farce that won two Tony Awards earlier this week, will not be taking off in Sydney.

Producers have grounded the production due to lacklustre ticket sales during the show's short Melbourne run.

The Australian production, which stars Shaun Micallef as Bernard, a womanising bachelor juggling the affections of three air hostesses, was due to open at the Theatre Royal on July 9.

Producers decided to cancel the Sydney season due to what a spokesman for the show called "financial considerations".

The Melbourne season will conclude on July 6.

Anyone who purchased tickets for the Sydney season should contact the place of purchase and return tickets for a full refund.

Boeing Boeing, which was written by Frenchman Marc Camoletti, was not a success when it premiered in the mid-1960s.

But a revival directed by the acclaimed theatre director Matthew Warchus proved to be an unlikely hit on London's West End and Broadway.

The Australian production also included Mitchell Butel as Bernard's friend Robert, Judi Farr as the housekeeper and Sibylla Budd, Helen Dallimore and Rachel Gordon as the German, American and Italian air hostesses.

Boeing Boeing puts a seriously sexy and funny twist on a classic farce. Bernard is a successful architect living in Paris happily juggling three airhostess fiancées who don’t know of each others existence.

When old school friend Robert arrives, Bernard relishes the chance to show his wide-eyed visitor his first class romantic operation at work. Unfortunately, schedules change and flights are delayed.
